This Photodiode Line Tracking Smart Robot Car Kit is a focused STEM educational robotics platform designed to introduce students to sensor-based control systems, embedded programming, and autonomous motion logic through hands-on experimentation. Built for K12 STEM curricula, it transforms abstract concepts like signal processing, PWM control, and feedback loops into visible, interactive movement.
The system features a dual-wheel differential drive with a front caster for balance, powered by DC reduction motors that provide smooth torque and controlled acceleration. The laser-cut acrylic chassis ensures lightweight durability and consistent alignment, making it ideal for repeated classroom assembly and experimentation.
At its core, the robot uses dual infrared photodiode sensors to detect differences in reflected light intensity between dark and light surfaces. These signals are converted into voltage inputs and processed by an Arduino-compatible controller, which dynamically adjusts PWM motor outputs to maintain accurate line tracking. This real-time correction mechanism demonstrates how sensor data drives motion decisions in autonomous systems.
Students can modify sensor thresholds, tune motor speed, and observe how these parameters affect tracking performance. This iterative process builds a deep understanding of control systems, proportional correction, and timing response, forming the foundation for more advanced robotics concepts such as PID control.
The kit supports Arduino IDE, Scratch, and Mixly, enabling both text-based and visual programming. With a plug-and-play modular design, all components connect without soldering, ensuring safe and efficient classroom use. The low-voltage 3V–5V system includes protection against reverse polarity and short circuits, providing a secure learning environment.

Power Supply Note:
The kit requires 2 × 18650 3.7V batteries (not included), allowing users to select battery capacity according to their project needs. Instructions and learning resources are available via manual download link and QR code.
You may return most new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).
